For universities · Pilot programme

See how your course is landing, while there’s still time to help.

Coast gives every student in your course a personal tutor that teaches from your material, and gives your educators a clear view of where the cohort is struggling. Set up around your institution’s requirements.

One platform, three views

Built for the people who learn, teach and decide.

Students

Pedro teaches each student step by step from your course material, checks understanding, and writes practice that climbs to exam level. Available whenever they study.

Educators

See which concepts and weeks are losing the cohort, while there’s still time to act, and get suggestions you decide on. You stay the author of your course.

Institutions

Hosting, data protection and student privacy configured to your policies, with a data processing agreement and full control over your material.

What educators see

Not who asked a question. What the cohort actually understands.

Every student’s learning profile records which objectives they’ve shown, where they got stuck and which mistakes keep coming back. Combined across the cohort, that tells you which part of the course needs attention, and why.

  • Mastery per learning objective, week by week
  • The step where most students get stuck, not just the topic
  • Mistakes that persist after teaching, so you know what to revisit
Statistics I · Week 6 Example data

38% of the cohort haven’t yet shown “interpret a confidence interval”. Most get stuck on the same step: what the 95% refers to.

  • Sampling distributions86%
  • Standard error74%
  • Confidence intervals62%
  • Hypothesis tests51%in progress
Suggestion · for you to review

Add one worked example that contrasts “95% of intervals” with “95% chance the mean is in this interval”, before the week 7 exercises.

Cohort view, anonymised. Illustrative example.

What Coast provides

A tutor for every student, built on your course.

A tutor that teaches from your material

Pedro turns the material you provide into a roadmap of short sections and teaches each one the way a tutor would, citing the exact pages it comes from.

Practice that reaches exam level

For every section, questions climb from a quick check to exam-level problems, written from your material and aligned with your learning objectives, each with a worked solution.

Cohort insight while it matters

See which objectives are landing and which aren’t, during the course rather than after the exam.

Suggestions you decide on

When a concept isn’t landing, Coast proposes a change: a reframing, an example, a different order. Nothing changes in your course without your approval.

Set up to your requirements

Your policies decide how Coast runs.

Every institution has its own rules on data, privacy and AI. We agree the setup with you before a single student signs in.

Where it runs

Hosted by Coast on servers in the EU (Frankfurt), or set up within your institution’s own infrastructure where your data policy requires it.

Which AI models

Run with AI providers your institution approves, under data processing agreements that exclude training on your data.

What educators can see

Anonymised, cohort-level insight by default. Individual students are only identified to educators where your policy allows it and the students have agreed. Students always see their own data.

Your material, your control

Your staff provide and approve the material. It is used only for your course, never shared outside it, and never used to train AI models.

Retention and deletion

Data is kept for as long as your policy says. At the end of a pilot or contract, it is returned to you or deleted, as you choose.

Fits your existing tools

Coast works alongside your learning environment. Sign-in and integration are agreed with your IT team as part of the setup.

Data protection

Built to be checked by your legal and privacy teams.

We put our approach in writing and walk your teams through it before a pilot starts.

  • GDPR, with a data processing agreement: Coast acts on your instructions
  • No training of AI models on your material or your students’ data
  • EU hosting by default, or your own infrastructure
  • Student privacy settings that follow your policy and your students’ consent
  • EU AI Act transparency: students always know they’re working with an AI
  • Encrypted in transit and at rest; deletion on request

The pilot

One course. One exam cycle. See what it shows.

No cost and no long-term commitment. The educator platform is being built with our pilot partners, so your feedback shapes it.

FAQ

Questions from institutions.

Is the educator platform available today?

Coast for students is live in beta. The educator platform is in development and runs as a pilot with partner institutions, so we can set it up around your requirements and build what your educators need.

Who owns our course material?

You do. Your staff decide what to provide, Coast uses it only to teach the students in your course, and it is returned or deleted when the pilot or contract ends.

Is our data used to train AI?

No. Neither your material nor your students’ data is used to train AI models, by us or by the AI providers we work with.

Can educators see individual students?

Only if your institution’s policy allows it and the students have agreed. By default, educators see anonymised insight at cohort level.

Where is the data stored?

By default on Coast’s servers in Frankfurt, Germany. If your policy requires it, Coast can be set up within your own infrastructure; we agree the details with your IT and privacy teams.

Does Coast replace educators?

No. Pedro handles what scales badly, like explaining a concept for the fourteenth time or writing practice at 11pm before an exam. Your educators make every decision about the course.
